Level 7 USAG Boys Gymnastics Team placed first in their age group at the Region 5 Gymnastic Meet held this past weekend in Indianapolis. There were over 25 teams in this age group representing Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio. The only other park district which sent qualified gymnasts was the Chicago Park District. Our program obviously speaks for itself. Each gymnast scored high enough on at least one event to earn a trip to the awards podium. Ryan Lemezis placed on every event, won Pommel Horse, and placed second in the All Around. Mitchell Fornek won High Bar and placed fifth All Around, while Joshua Fornek tied for second place on Parallel Bars and placed fourth All Around. Kyle Novak placed sixth on High Bar and Zachary Carlson placed tenth on Vault. Congratulations to Coach Janos and the boys!
USAG Level 4 State Meet held at Forest View High School in Arlington Heights
Team Oswego’s USA Gymnastics Level 4 gymnasts competed in the “So You Think You Can Flip?” USAG Level 4 State Meet held at Forest View High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois on March 27-28, 2010. The gymnasts, led by Coach Jocelyn Reichert, performed at their very best. The girls’ hard work will not stop just because the season is over. The team now looks forward to competition as Level 5 USA Gymnasts. The girls would like to give a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to all the coaches and staff at Team Oswego Gymnastics. The girls could not have done it without you!!! In the end the team earned about 300 Individual Event and All-Around Medals this season.

Flip’r Invitational 2010 at Naperville Gymnastics Academy
Team Oswego’s USAG Level 4 and Level 5 female gymnasts competed at the Flip’r Invitational 2010 at Naperville Gymnastics Academy in Naperville, Illinois over the weekend. Coached by Jocelyn Reichert, the gymnasts gave their strongest performances this season. Every spectator could easily see each gymnast’s love for a sport to which they have devoted much time and effort, and the total number of individual event and all-around awards earned over the weekend confirmed this fact. Team Oswego’s Level 4 gymnasts demonstrated their gymnastics prowess by taking first place honors in the team competition. The girls will resume training this week as they prepare for their state meets. The Level 4 State Meet “So You Think You Can Flip?” will take place at Forest View High School in Arlington Heights, IL on March 26-28, 2010. The Level 5 State Meet will take place at the East Peoria Events Center in East Peoria, IL on April 24-25, 2010. We wish everyone the best of luck at State!!

IGI's Chicago Style Gymnastic Meet Results
Navy Pier Meet
The Team Oswego USAG female gymnasts competed in IGI’s Chicago Style Gymnastic Meet held at Festival Hall on Chicago’s Navy Pier over the weekend. The gymnasts, coached by Jocelyn Reichert, Yvette Gutierrez, Jen McCleese, Brian Bade and Candace Jackson, gave solid performances against some of the strongest gymnasts in the Midwest. Team Oswego’s Level 4 gymnasts placed 8th and the Level 5 gymnasts placed 7th in Sunday’s team competition. The girls will resume training this week as they prepare for the Spring Hill Elgin Invite at ECC’s Spartan Events Center on Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22, 2010 in Elgin, Illinois.

Elgin Invite/Spring Hill Invitational Results
Team Oswego’s USAG Girls Level 4 and Level 5 gymnasts competed in the “Elgin Invite/Spring Hill Invitational” at Spartan Events Center at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois over the weekend. The gymnasts, led by Coach Jocelyn Reichert, once again displayed their considerable abilities. Every spectator could easily see each gymnast’s love for a sport to which they have devoted much of their time and effort, and the amount of individual event and all-around awards earned confirmed this fact. In addition, Kaitlyn Pittinaro received the Judge’s Award for “Most Beautiful Alignment and Toe Point on Vault”, and Katherine Szkola received the Judge’s Award for “Most Powerful Vault.” The Level 4 gymnasts placed 3rd overall. On a more somber note, Alexandra Sorrells sustained an injury on the uneven bars during the competition that prohibited her from finishing the meet. Everyone at Team Oswego wishes Alexandra a speedy recovery. Team Oswego’s next competition will be at the “Flip’r Invitational”, which will take place at Naperville Gymnastics Academy on Saturday, March 6, 2010.

Team Oswego USAG Boys Level 5 had their second outing of the season at the 29th Annual St. Valentine’s Classic on February 6th hosted by the Gym Spot. They competed against boys from 18 other teams across Illinois. The boys had another great meet.
In the 11+ age group, Matthew Schaschwary placed 1st in the All Around with a score of 85.6. Matthew placed 1st on the High Bar (14.9), 2nd on the Pommel Horse (14.3) and Parallel Bars (14.2), 4th on the Rings (14.3), 5th on the Floor (13.9) and 12th on the Vault (14.0). In his first outing of the season, Max Minder placed 3rd in the All Around with a score of 85.2. Max took 1st on the Floor (15.0) and the Parallel Bars (14.6), 2nd on the Rings (14.4) and the High Bar (14.4), and 7th on the Pommel Horse (13.1).
In the Level 5 Age 9 group, Jared Middleton placed 2nd in the All Around with a score of 88.0. Jared placed 2nd on the Vault (15.0), 3rd on the Floor (15.0), Parallel Bars (14.8), Rings (14.5), and Pommel Horse (14.1), and 5th on the High Bar (14.6). Fellow teammate Marco Wilson placed 5th in the All Around with a score of 86.7. Marco placed 1st on the High Bar (15.3), 2nd on the Floor (15.2), 3rd on the Rings (14.5), 4th on the Vault (14.6), 5th on the Parallel Bars(14.4), and 15th on the Pommel Horse (12.7).
The boys are trained by Coach Janos Sziron of the Oswegoland Part District. The next competition for Team Oswego is February 20th & 21st at the Circle of Stars in Indianapolis, IN.
USAG Boys Wisconsin Dells Vacation Classic Meet Results (January 31, 2010)
Team Oswego Boys Level 5 Gymnastics
Team Oswego Level 5 Boys opened their gymnastic season on Sunday, January 31st at the 2010 Wisconsin Dells Gymnastic Vacation Classic in Wisconsin Dells. The meet was sponsored by CSA Kids Gymnastics Club of Janesville, WI. The boys competed against 90 other gymnasts from Illinois and Wisconsin. Level 5 Boys had a great first showing and came in 5th out of the 17 teams competing.
Competing at age 9 were Marco Wilson and Jared Middleton. Marco took 2nd in the all around competition with a score of 88.5. He scored 1st on the High Bar (15.6) and Vault (15.0), 2nd on the Rings (15.0) and Floor (14.6), 3rd on the Parallel Bars (14.5) and 6th on the Pommel Horse (13.8). Jared Middleton came in 11th in the 9-year-old division with an All Around score of 82.7.
