Tree Planting at Prairie Point Community Park
October 17, 2009

I would like to extend a hearty thank you to all who spent Saturday morning adding to the beauty of one of our community’s natural areas by planting trees. More than 25 people braved the cool morning winds to plant more than 12 trees and many native perennials in Oswegoland’s Prairie Point Community Park.

The Oswegoland Park and Recreation Foundation along with community volunteers and scouts from troops 63, 12, 31 (Pack 633), and at least one Traughber Junior High student council member left a living legacy in the park last week. Holes were dug, tress planted, wildlife nurtured, and friendships forged to leave something behind that future generations will enjoy. On behalf of the Park Foundation, I thank all of you who joined in our planting day. We hope to make this an annual tradition and create a grove of trees—a living legacy.

Preserve the Woods

There is nothing quite like the rustle of leaves, beams of sunlight slicing through a green canopy, singing birds, scampering wildlife, and the feeling of solitude that comes with being one with nature.

Preserve the Woods

An effort to preserve Reservation Woods for public use is in progress!

Reservation Woods, an old-growth woods of exceptional ecological quality is located south of Oswego, west of Grove Road and north of Highway 126.

The woods are being surrounded by development, and without action by concerned citizens, will likely be turned into home lots.
