Immediate Openings

Kid's Connection Cluster Coordinator 

Applications are currently being accepted for a Kid’s Connection Cluster Coordinator.  This is a full-time, exempt administrative position. Responsibilities include management and further development of a high quality before and after-school recreational program.

Duties include:

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Track registration changes and attendance.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, supervise, and evaluate programs and staff.
  • Organize people, facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Help assure facilities are secure, safe and hazard free.
  • Respond to customer concerns and suggestions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of private information, relating to volunteers, staff, and participants, consistent with park district policies and legal requirements.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with staff, vendors, participants, District 308, and the general public.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Park and Recreation, Elementary Education, or related field with a minimum of eighteen hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience managing people, programs and multiple facilities.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal form.
  • Possess decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation, delegation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to operate office machinery and computers. Knowledge of Word, Class and Excel.
  • Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the Park District.

Lifeguards

  • Responsibilities include ensuring patrons' safety, cleaning, and customer service
  • Civic Center Aquatic Park and Winrock Pool
  • Training provided
  • Hours range from 6:45 am - 11 pm, 7 days a week, dependent on special events
  • Must be at least 16 years of age and a swimmer
  • Priority given to past summer employees in good standing

Birthday Party Hosts

  • Lead birthday parties for children at the Civic Center and Boulder Point
  • Duties include greeting the guests, set up, running games, and clean up
  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Candidates should be creative, enthusiastic, pleasant, and energetic
  • Hours vary, and will include weekends and some evenings

Kid's Connection Leaders
The Oswegoland Park District has openings for leaders in its before and after school Kid’s Connection program located in each District 308 elementary school. Perfect for recent grads looking for experience, or parents who can bring their own child with them for free!

  • Duties include organizing games and activities, serving snacks, going on field trips, planning crafts, cleaning and playing!
  • A sincere commitment to nurturing each child’s exceptional self, and the ability to communicate professionally with children, parents, school and park district staff are required.
  • Monday - Friday, mornings 6:30-8:30am, afternoons 3:15-6:15pm, or both
  • Experience with school age children a plus
  • Hourly rate from $8 - $9.75, commensurate with experience
  • Must be 19 years of age with a high school diploma and at least six hours of college coursework in early childhood.

Dance Instructor

  • Part-time teaching ballet, jazz, tap, creative movement, pom dancing or hip hop to students 2 years old to adult
  • Classes located at Boulder Point
  • Duties include significant involvement in program and recital planning, coordination, implementation, supervision and evaluation of dance classes.
  • Experience with children and parents a must.
  • Degree in Dance Education or related field preferred, not required.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years studying dance.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching dance.

Varied Interest Class Instructors

The Oswegoland Park District is hiring instructors to teach varied interest classes including:

  • Art of Meditation
  • Tai Chi
  • Hours are flexible and vary from season to season
  • Must have a passion for the subject.
  • Prior teaching experience helpful, but not necessary.

Fitness Instructor

  • Part-time teaching cardio, toning, cycling, or yoga for adults and/or youth.
  • Significant involvement in program planning, coordination, implementation, supervision and evaluation of fitness classes.
  • ACE certified preferred
  • Minimum 2 years teaching group Fitness

Boy's Gymnastic Coach

  • A former competitive gymnast wanted to teach growing competitive boys program.
  • Must enjoy working with children; be energetic, positive, a team player, and reliable.
  • Will work with a former international competitor and elite gymnast.
  • Part-time, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 5:00-9:00pm and some meet weekends.
  • All classes held at Boulder Point, Zero Boulder Hill Pass, Montgomery, IL.
