Otters Swim Team (ages 5 - 18)
Join the Oswegoland Park District Swim Team and become an OTTER!
The Otters offer an opportunity for your swimmer to participate in friendly and competitive meets with neighboring teams. With daily practices, your swimmer will develop their competitive swimming skills, learn sportsmanship, foster friendships, and experience the physical and emotional growth that comes with team sports.

How to Register
Register according to your child’s age as of June 1, 2010. New swimmers will be assigned to Black, Red, or White practice group at Try-Out Days. Returning swimmers should come to the same practice group as last summer. Promotions to new practice groups will be made on an individual basis during practice.
Try-Out Days - New swimmers only at the Civic Center! (returning swimmers do not need to attend).

Practice Groups and Practice Schedule

White - Competitive swimming skills are introduced and developed. Children will be expected to swim multiple lengths of the four competitive strokes.
Red - Swimmers are capable of swimming 50 yards or more of all four strokes and strong enough for medium level conditioning. Advanced skills are introduced and developed.
Black - Swimmers have been swimming competitively for several years and are ready for intense conditioning. Advanced skills are mastered.
Dual - Those swimming for a local USS or YMCA team as well as the Oswegoland Otters during the summer will receive a Dual team discount. Proof of membership and regular practice with their other team will be required at time of registration. Members must practice a minimum of 2 hours each week with the Otters. Registration for this group will begin on April 1, 2010 and must be done in person.
Black and Red Teams will be divided into A and B subgroups and will practice at both Civic Center and Winrock pools. A rotating schedule will be announced after the first week. The White Team will be divided into A and B subgroups and have different practice times at the Civic Center pool. An additional evening practice is available to Dual, Black and Red A Teams on Monday evenings at Winrock pool from 6:30-8:30pm.

Meets
Meets are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are run by parent volunteers. Bussing is available for away meets for swimmers only.
NCIS Conference
The Oswego Otters compete in the North Central Illinois Swimming Conference each summer. We have six dual meets against other NCIS teams, 3 home and 3 away. The Conference Meet is the final meet of the season and the championship meet for all NCIS teams. In 2010 the Otters placed 3rd in the Conference Meet!
