The Park District hosted the Kendall County Town & Country Amateur Art Show on March 9 & 10 at the Park District’s Civic Center, featuring the work of amateur adult and student artists. Many of the participating (and ribbon winning) entries were showing their work for the very first time.
This year Hale Ekinci was the selected jurist. Hale is an interdisciplinary artist in Chicago who has exhibited in various galleries and venues across the United States. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at North Central College.
Best of Show and blue ribbon winners are invited to enter the Town & Country Art Show at the state level to be held in Champaign, Illinois this summer.
Fox River Academy of Music & Art students of piano, guitar, and voice provided music throughout the weekend that was enjoyed by visitors to the art show. Also participating were members of the Quilter’s Dozen, as they demonstrated the art of hand quilting, and the Limelight Theatre Company, as they painted faces.
The 2014 Kendall County Town & Country Art Show will be held in early March. If you are interested in participating or would like more information please contact Cori Veverka at cveverka@oswegolandpd.org.
